If you can remain at your home during a disaster your all set, but if you need to leave you’ll need at least basic shelter such as a tent, a vehicle to sleep in,  else house to head to or an emergence shelter.

A emergency shelter is a place for you and your family to live temporarily when they cannot live in their previous residence.  The main difference is that an emergency shelter typically specializes in people fleeing a specific type of situation, such as natural or man-made disasters. Often during an emergence these type of shelters fill up very fast, It is still a good idea to know where the emergence shelters in your area are located. Red Cross Disaster Shelter locator

You may want to get a light weight tent and sleeping bags in case you will have to travel on foot.
