First Aid


FIRST AID. It is important to have a well stocked first aid kit in times of an emergence, you may not be to get the help needed. Knowledge is key here, there are many books on first aid.

The first aid kit you have with you can mean the difference between live and death in a disaster. I’ve made a list below of the basic item that should be in your first aid kit. Here is a list of First Aid books, that will help when medical help is need, but not available.

  • First-aid manual
  • Sterile gauze pads of different sizes
  • Adhesive tape
  • Adhesive bandages in several sizes
  • Elastic bandage
  • A splint
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Soap
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Antiseptic solution (like hydrogen peroxide)
  • Hydro-cortisone cream (1%)
  • Acetaminophen and ibuprofen
  • Extra prescription medications
  • Tweezers
  • Sharp scissors
  • Safety pins
  • Disposable instant cold packs
  • Calamine lotion
  • Alcohol wipes or ethyl alcohol
  • Thermometer
  • Plastic non-latex gloves (at least 2 pairs)
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • A blanket
  • Mouthpiece for administering CPR (can be obtained from your local Red Cross)
  • Your list of emergency phone numbers

You  may want to purchase a kit and add items to it, but have a First aid kit ready.
